I got my bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, and attribute much of my analytic and listening skills to my experiences as a journalist. I had the pleasure of earning my Master’s Degree at Pacifica Graduate Institute, home of the late Joseph Campbell’s book collection. Before that, I worked as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

I follow the depth psychology tradition of inquiry and meaning-making. In the depth tradition, therapy includes drawing within to the individual soul and expanding outward into the anima mundi, the world soul.  To engage in your own healing process raises consciousness around you. My education and experience blend to provide a therapeutic framework that tends to both soul and goals, inner listening and outward change, stillness and action, exploration and results, the practical and the visionary.

Although born and raised in the Bay Area, I’ve lived in Eugene, Oregon, the Boston Metro Area, and Southern California. Much of my professional therapy background and all of my intern experience was in private practice and in social services in Los Angeles County. I interned at the Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic, and in a county-contracted community mental health nonprofit. I worked with chronic mental illness and at-risk youth and their families.

Once I came back to the Bay Area, I worked for Good Samaritan's Behavioral Health department doing intake and referral services for the inpatient unit and outpatient psychiatric programs before going full time into private practice.

My writing explores issues that I see all of us struggling with and discusses them on a universal, social, global, or thematic level.  I have always written in some capacity or another, and imagine I always will.

Writing and therapy inform each other in my work, and I’m glad I’ve got both of them.
